Feel The Darkness Within

Toy and Mik in Black & White, originally uploaded by mink_wink.

After the brightness of the day, the darkness of the night comes inevitably. Darkness is always there, just lurking for the right moment for it to take charge on our lives. I used to be afraid of the dark, as a child it seems that the darkness is somewhat a demon that hunts my dreams, a disturbing phenomenon that leaves me petrified or the curse on the life of a terrified kid. I was afraid to close my eyes on a lightless night; moreover blindness seems to be the most notorious sickness I tend to prevent. It seems that in the darkness the never-ending road will always be continuous. Because of that belief I grew up disturbed, unaware of the magic that darkness can bring.

The music of the night suddenly changed. The horrible nights were transformed to an exciting masquerade, the nightmares were changed to sweet dreams and the lifeless night was beginning to have a move on its own. I realized there were many things that only through darkness, lack of vision, lightless life can bring….

The most wonderful things that we are doing are done in the darkness.

Adoring the beauty of a thousand fireflies hovering over the mango tree can only be done during the darkness of the night.

The amusement that the billion stars of the night can bring that jewels a moonless night.

The terrible beauty of the burning fireworks.

The most intimate kiss are only felt when our eyes are closed. In the darkness we linger the sensation that our locked lips produce.

The dreams are only realized when we are in our slumber, on a solitude night.

The loveliest and emotional lines of a song are only delivered correctly when the eyes are closed, for in the darkness we can find the correct feelings that are necessary for the rendition.

Sleeping is done during the darkness of the night, the correct way to rejuvenate and refresh our body.

Only on silence of the darkness we can find peace.

Have you ever imagined your loved one? The best way to imagine, close your eyes feel the darkness, the calmness of the night.

Making love in the most intimate manner is only done on darkness.

Darkness is a friend especially for a loner like me.

Reasons to Smile

Reasons to Smile, originally uploaded by mink_wink.

I realized that there are so much reasons in my life to make me smile...

My family who loves me so much
My friends, though few, who are always there for me when im down
The birds happily chirping at 6am in the morning
The sunlight that peeks inside my room
The taste of noodles and sardines which i missed so much
Diane who guards the treasures inside my cabinet
The blog, which accounts my melodramatic and pompous moments
The nice text messages, personal or forwarded, that makes my heart jump
My old laptop that holds hidden files, for my eyes only
My guardian angel who wakes me up at 2am
And most importantly to God, for the life HE gave me, Thank you

A Candle for a dead Pope

Monday, January 21, 2008

(Photo Taken: April 2 2005)

"Let me go to the house of the Father", was Pope John Paul's last words before his death at the age of 84...

It was a great delight and comfort to find this special photo which was taken almost 3 years ago... This photo commemorates my grief and sadness to the death of the Pope.

What bothers me, is that photo, shows two matchsticks joining together while a third one is separated from the two and away from the light. obviously i have lit the candle using a matchstick, i just cant figure out why there were three of them...

When i saw the picture while browsing my files, i was thinking about me being always the second in almost everything especially in the field called LOVE. I hope im wrong, i think i found him already...

Sunburn, originally uploaded by mink_wink.

a friend once told me that you can never be human if you havent been burned...
The burn that the crazy sun has done to your skin
The burn that desire has given you
The burn that can wipe your material things
The burn that can destroy your life
The burn that makes you go on with life
The burn that gives you hope and the warmth to stay breathing
The burn that is the only way to reach the dreams so high
The burn that makes your mind sharper and your heart lovelier
The burn that you do for the one you love, the reason you sacrifice yourself and let the fire burn your flesh just to protect and spare him from the hurt...

The Search for the Lost Pearl

Friday, January 18, 2008

Paradusdos, originally uploaded by mink_wink.

Obviously the photo header is not a picture of pearls…

Those are for the PARADUSDOS that Nanay cooked for me during my vacation.

But precious gems can take the form of anything that gives us happiness, fulfillment and contentment from within
They are people that we cherish, love and care
They are safe inside the jewel box called HOME
They are the friends we wanted to share our life with.
The precious someone, the way you see them sparkle though miles away from you,
They are mementos that provide sweet memories of the past.
Gems can be found on the music we wanna hear every time we cry, that will give back the grin on our faces.
Sometimes they are also on places we wanted to be, only hidden.
Sometimes they take the form of our favorite food, on the lines of our favorite poem or the dialogue of our favorite movie.
Though some of the gems around us are fancy, we should be cautious on identifying them. They are everywhere but amongst the fancy, lies the most coveted pearl of all, just waiting to be discovered.
Join me on the search for the lost pearl of my life…

Lets search one ocean at a time.

A real pearl: My Nanay’s Paradusdos…
